Why are the Gambling Compliance Awards So Important?
According to a research made by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, in 2017, 45% of people in Britain have participated in any form of gambling in the past four weeks. As stated by the same source, in the following 2018, this number has risen to 46%. A 1% increase may not seem like much to you, but to put that into perspective we are talking about an additional 650,000 people. There is every reason to believe that the number of people who participate in gambling is going to continue to rise steadily, considering the constant innovations in the field of mobile technology as well as mobile casino and betting platforms. What is shocking, however, is that of all the people who have gambled under one form or another in 2017, a whopping 41% believed that gambling is associated with crime. It is, therefore, more important than ever that a set of strict rules and regulations is applied to every company on the market.
Despite the fact that safety and fairness are such important topics, the people who work tirelessly towards achieving full compliance with the laws are rarely mentioned when talking about the gambling industry and the success that companies are having. This is one of the main reasons why the Gambling Global Compliance Awards are so crucial. Their aim is to shift the emphasis on the unsung heroes of the gaming industry, who are constantly watching over the millions of customers around the world and working towards protecting their rights. The awards are given to either companies or individuals and each of the 17 categories recognises one of the different roles and disciplines within compliance and responsible gambling.
The Gambling Global Regulatory Awards in 2019
This year is going to mark the 3rd edition of the awards and the process of selecting the nominees had already begun at the end of last year. So here is a quick introduction to the timeline of events. The whole procedure starts at the beginning of December of the previous year when the system is opened for nominations. The nominees could be individual employees as well as entire companies or organisation within the gambling industry. All submissions are sent straight to the panel of judges with the use of a unique independent platform. Then, 3 months later, at the end of February, the portal closes, and no more entries are accepted. After a careful and thorough evaluation process, the list of contenders is narrowed down and officially published in March. This year, for example, there are 93 finalists across 17 categories. The ceremony itself is going to take place on May 21, 2019 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. There, an independent committee will single out the winners, who are then going to be announced by Celebrity Host Stephen Mangan – acclaimed British actor and comedian.
